Pistil of a Passion flower of Reunion Island taken in the gardens of the Villa Folio in Hell-Bourg (Salazie circus). The name "Passion" was given by Jesuit missionaries who see the flower symbols Passion of Christ: the filaments in the center represent the crown of thorns, the three styles of the pistil to the three nails used for crucifixion, the five stamens the five wounds, etc..
